For our second week in viscom we were given an illustrative breif we had to communicate the meaning of our metaphor again but this time we could only use illustration, no type was allowed.
After much thought and many mind maps i came up with 2 concepts. First was the idea of a wolf singing on a stage. This idea had and element of humor but was effective enough when i executed it.

I still liked the idea of using humour and portraying the wolf as singing. i decided to simplify the idea and just use the wolfs face and a microphone to symbolise the voice.
After experimening with the idea i decided just to use the wolfs eyes as it was effective enough to communicate the idea of the wolf and the anger that i wanted to portray could be clearly seen in the eyes of the wolf.

After drawing out several versions of this idea it wasnt working. i was communicating the metaphor clearly. so i decided to use found images and photoshop together my final solution.

This is my final solution. Im really happy with the final product as i think it communicates the metaphor and still has a sublte element of humor.

For our first week in VisCom we were given a typeographt breif. We were given a metaphor which we had to illustrate the meaning of through the typeography we used. My metaphor was "He has the Voice of a Wolf" I decided to try and portray anger through my type. I thoug about using hairy or furry fabric to create the letters.

After experimenting with the fabric i decided it didnt have the agresive look i was trying to achieve but i did like the pattern created in the close up photo of the fabric. i decided to print out this photo in grey and use that paper to make my type.
These are some of the different types of type i came up with.

I also decided that the word i needed to emphasise was not wolf but voice to try and make it look like a wolf

I made 2 final solution beacause i wanted to see what both the silver lettering and the textured lettering looked like in full scale.

For my final selection i decided to go with the grey textured letering with the silver writing around it as i thought it was the most effective in communicating the metaphor.
